Prophet SA embarked on an ambitious project to transform its systems into fully integrated freight forwarding and clearing systems for fresh produce logistics service providers. Says Charl van Loggerenberg, Prophet SA General Manager: “our logistics service provider clients are now able to deliver a fully integrated systems-solution to fresh produce stakeholders in South Africa from a single database environment. This integrated ecosystem facilitates the most critical regulatory requirements in the industry and does so via integration with various industry platforms.

Our core functionalities now include:

  • Automated importing of standard industry data from all major industry systems to create the foundational datasets for export consignments

  • Integrated bookings environment for streamlined container, vessel and customer bookings;

  • Electronic Addendums that integrate with the PPECB API gateway

  • Electronic Phyto Certificates that are fully integrated with eCERT and the Trade Unit Register (TUR)

  • Fully integrated and automated invoicing from dispatch- or bookings level for logistical services delivered to stakeholders in the export value chain.

Charl continues: “the evolution of our systems into an eCERT-integrated landscape is garnering the interest of existing logistics service providers as well as new providers entering the fresh produce industry looking for effective systems to drive their service offerings. Ongoing efforts in the industry point to a fully integrated, paperless environment in the near future which places further importance on the need for a system that can deliver traceability and which is continuously maintained to align to industry and regulatory documentation.”
